Chapter 6.04. GENERAL PROVISIONS, ADMINISTRATION AND ENFORCEMENT |
§ 6.04.030. Powers and duties of the animal control officer.
The animal control officer shall:
A.
Keep and maintain records of all animals impounded and of all actions taken in the course of duties; this record shall include description of animal, date of impounding, the sex, color, breed, distinguishing marks, location of pickup and final disposition of such animal;
B.
Carry out and enforce all the provisions and amendments of this chapter;
C.
Enforce the licensing and control of all animals in the city as provided in this chapter;
D.
Report animal bites to the health officer;
E.
Seize and impound all animals violating the terms of this chapter;
F.
Be empowered to pursue upon private property any animal observed violating any provision of this chapter or when acting under a court order, warrant, affidavit of a vicious animal, or when attempting to seize any animal suspected of having been exposed to rabies;
G.
Make complaints in city court for violations of the chapter and shall attend and testify in court when required; and
H.
Have authority to make out and issue citations for violations of this chapter.
