§ 2.44.050. Composition of board.

  • A.

    The board shall consist of seven members as follows:

    1.

    One member to be appointed by the city council from its membership;

    2.

    One member to be appointed by the city council, who may at the discretion of the city council be an employee or hold public office in the city;

    3.

    One member to be appointed by the mayor upon the designation by the county commissioners;

    4.

    Four citizen members to be appointed by the mayor, two whom shall be resident freeholders within the urban area, outside the city limits which the board has jurisdiction (within one mile from city limits) and two whom shall be resident freeholders within the city limits.

    B.

    The qualifications for the office of planning board commissioner shall be the same as are required for the office of mayor.

    C.

    The mayor shall appoint a city staff member to be staff representative to the planning board. The mayor shall appoint a city staff member who shall serve as minutes secretary to the planning board.

    D.

    The mayor may appoint such ex officio members as deemed necessary to advise theboard. Ex officio members are exempt from qualifications in Section 2.44.050 A. The term of office for ex officio members shall be one year.
